Specialized Racing withdraw from the 2020 Cape Epic

With the current travel restrictions and rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, Specialized believes it is important for our riders and staff to be home with their families during these difficult times, therefore the Specialized Racing teams are pulling out of the Cape Epic. Our athletes and staff will travel home as soon as possible while remaining aware of the world situation. With so much unknown, the entire team feels it is best to be home safe and stand with the rest of the world in doing our part to combat the spread of the virus.

“It is a tough decision for us to pull out of the Cape Epic as the training has been amazing all week and working with the Songo Foundation has been so meaningful. While we head home from this year’s event, we all look forward with great anticipation to coming back to this beautiful race in 2021.”

Team Manager Eric Fostvedt

We look forward to resuming racing as soon as possible, but remain committed to doing our part to help contain COVID-19. Until then we urge everyone to stay safe and be strong. Together we win
