For Spring 2018, Pearl Izumi introduces significant evolutions of its mountain bike and road collections, with a focus on the emerging category of Dirt riders, a super premium PI / BLACK road cycling position, highly aerodynamic Pursuit road apparel, and exciting new MTB and road footwear.
Pearl Izumi Dirt Collection
Pearl Izumi has broadened its traditional mountain bike apparel offerings to meet a wider range of experiences on the bike. The Dirt collection offers gear that serves the full off-pavement spectrum; from all mountain, to trail and XC, to gravel road and bike path riding. A new Versa line of bike focused casual gear can be intermixed whether riding singletrack or commuting. From classic MTB styles to new lifestyle silhouettes, all Dirt gear is designed to merchandise together, so riders can express themselves in Pearl Izumi from head to toe, with gear that meets the specific demands of their adventure.
PI / BLACK Collection
At the pinnacle of Pearl Izumi’s cycling apparel designs, PI / BLACK is an exclusive collection of road cycling apparel that offers the ultimate in craftsmanship and performance. Designed in Pearl Izumi’s Speed Shop in Colorado, the distinguished PI / BLACK line sets new standards in both aesthetics and function for the most discerning riders.
Developed with years of input from Pro Tour riders, the PI / BLACK collection debuts with four key styles, all focused on helping riders achieve a new level of performance. Highlights include the Pursuit / BLACK Mach 5 Speedsuit which was worn to record the fastest TT in Tour history and the Pursuit / BLACK Bib Short, which offers more compression than any short in the Pearl Izumi line up for superior chamois stability and muscle support.
This premium collection will debut in North America Spring of 2018, with limited European distribution starting in 2019.
Pursuit Aero Collection
Pursuit Aero Collection Ninety percent of the power a rider produces is used to overcome aerodynamic drag on flat terrain. The Pursuit Aero collection uses advances in pattern engineering, texture, and shape to optimize airflow around the rider. A combination of Pearl Izumi’s Patented Speed Sleeve and special textured aero fabric helps airflow follow the shape of a rider’s body to significantly reduce drag. New for this year is the ELITE Pursuit Speed Jersey for men and women, which brings this technology to a price point accessible to any rider.
Road and Dirt Footwear
Pearl Izumi debuts its lightest, stiffest and most breathable road shoe to date, with groundbreaking technology top to bottom. The P.R.O. Leader v4 uses an advanced asymmetric seamless upper to minimize pressure points and a sole joined using a unique unibody construction to deliver a super low 5 mm stack height for an unmatched connection to the pedals.
Responding to rider demand, Pearl Izumi introduces the X-Alp Launch, its first ever flat pedal shoe, designed to give riders confidence, control and comfort for all-day riding. For those looking to shred while clipped in with a modern street look, the revolutionary X-Alp Launch SPD shoe is the pinnacle of performance. Both shoes utilize dual compound Vibram® Megagrip rubber outsoles to balance durability and grip on and off-the-bike.
Building on the relationship with Vibram, Pearl Izumi is also introducing the X-Alp Elevate for all-mountain riders who value off-bike capability. The special ¾ length carbon shank delivers exceptional pedaling performance without compromising the natural walking gate.
