It all started in late 2018 when Canyon bikes launched in South Africa, spear headed by Erik Kleinhans. The journey has been great, and the response from the local market even greater. Now, the brand intends to offer cyclists in South Africa a more convenient way of getting their hands on a Canyon, through their country specific ZAR pricing.
As off 22 November 2019, locals can order their desired bikes, and pay in ZAR. Ultimately this eliminates buyer vulnerability to the ever fluctuating exchange rate between the Rand, Dollar and Euro. Its a key business move and one that will inevitably trigger more happy riders.
At Canyon, customers are not just customers, they’re riders! And so they are treated as riders, with the brand’s rider-first marketing and sales teams. Matching up to Canyon’s bike design focus. The brand is now at its great summit, offering a complete, all-round and convenient business model to riders on a global scale.
Removing the guess work out of South African payments on their bicycles, Canyon offer transparent fees when it comes to importing the products. While the VAT of 15% in South Africa and shipping costs for each bike are excluded from the list price, the costs are inevitable no matter what country you live in.
