If there was a definition in the dictionary for the StumpJumper, it would be; ultimate trail bike!

The StumpJumper was one of the first bikes that got Specialized on the map. It has won countless races, so the engineers of the StumpJumper have major experience in building trail bikes. As the years have passed by, trails have become tougher and harsher, but then again, so has the StumpJumper!

The Tech:

Using Specialized’s classic frame design of a slacker head tube and a wider wheelbase, has made the geometry of the frame more upright and sturdy. The front triangle of the frame is constructed with FACT 9mm carbon fibre, with the ever useful integrated S.W.A.T Door. The alloy rear triangle with the solid FSR linkage to the swing-arm, does give the bike a more, heavier feel. However, the air sprung RockShox Revelation contemplates for that weight. The FOX Float CTD Evolution Series performed extremely well, it is very responsive and never disappointed us on the trail. Both shocks offer 3-positions to switch into, and with the remotely controlled Command IRcc dropper post, you truly feel confident on the bike.

Specialized used Sram for the cassette, chain and crank-set, with the Sram X7 front derailleur. This is a perfect combination of components for the 2×10 drivetrain, providing accurate shifting from the Shimano SLX shifters.

The Ride:

Trail bikes are not about weight. They are about shear fun. Specialized knows this. This is why they’ve used components that are centred around making the bike more enjoyable.

The bike is quite hefty to drag uphill, but extremely fast and sturdy on the descents. The weight really doesn’t matter; in fact, it actually helps you to stay stable on technical ascents.
