Tested: Garmin Edge 1000

Garmin broke new ground by creating the Edge 1000. I’d recommend this cycling computer to any of you tech lovers. The Edge 1000 can literally do it all and it’s got it all, you see, Garmin thought of everything that a cyclist would need to get from his or her cycling computer and then simply applied their extraordinary GPS technology, to create a cycling computer that would give cyclists an edge on their opponents.

The first thing you notice when you power on the Edge 1000, is the quick and easy setup, which is helpful if you don’t know how to operate these devices. Another helpful tool is that you can create your own profile and record all your rides in detail. Then you can connect the Edge to your smartphone, and upload your rides to the Garmin Connect app, and challenge your friends.

The Garmin Edge 1000 is best described as a mini smartphone, that is especially made for cycling. You see, the Edge 1000 has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and connects wirelessly to your ANT+ Sensors, which are the heart rate monitor, cadence and speed sensors. Now, being wireless, it just makes everything easier. The reason I like that is because I don’t like cables running up and down my bike. Cables are sometimes hazardous and can be damaged in a crash, therefore the Edge will last longer as it does not rely on cables to transport signals.

Plus, this cycling computer, picks up distance, temperature, elevation and the calories you burn. All these features are helpful while riding. Off-road, the GPS keeps you from getting lost, maps your elevation and keeps your heart under check, which is the most important. During  the test, the Edge 1000 really did help me perform at my best.

The Garmin Edge 1000 is an awesome piece of technology! I get excited just thinking of the amazing technology being used in cycling devices like this, in today’s world. The Edge is your ultimate cycling companion, off-road and on-road, and I guarantee you that it will be the best purchase you could make in terms of cycling components!
