New Gear: THE ALL-NEW TREK ROAD BIKES

Trek, the #1 performance bike brand in the world, is excited to announce the launch of their 2018 road bike range. With a Research and Development department that packs an impressive engineering team, Trek is committed to making every modification the absolute best in its class. Trek is determined to bring out the winner in every Trek road warrior!

Émonda – the lightweight revolution

Trek has released a new generation of its ultralight Émonda road bike line, shaving 50 g off the previous SLR models, weighing in at a svelte 640 g. Since its release in 2014, Émonda SLR has set the standard for lightweight road bike performance. For the all-new Émonda line-up, Trek developed a new carbon layup that made its lightest bike even lighter. The 700 Series OCLV Carbon frame also enjoys increases in stiffness and compliance, making the new Émonda family an offering with both the performance attributes required by dedicated racers and improved ride quality for everyday riders.

New models of Émonda SL pair much of the same technology with 500 Series OCLV Carbon frames while an entirely new Women’s model, Émonda SL 5 Women’s, has been added to the SL line-up.

Trek South Africa’s range includes the Émonda SLR 8 and Émonda SL 6 Pro, SL 5, and SL 5 Women’s available at Trek retailers nationwide.  Disc brake options will be available through Trek’s Project One – allowing cyclists to create the bike of their dreams.

Get the Aerodynamic advantage with the Madone 9.0

Trek’s new 9.0 Madone delivers all the highlights of the flagship line, including advanced aerodynamics, light weight and superb ride quality, at unprecedented value-for-money. Award-winning performance features include Kammtail Virtual Foil tube shaping for cutting-edge speed and performance; an IsoSpeed decoupler to smooth out rough roads; and fully integrated internal cable routing. So what’s the difference? The old one-piece Madone bar and stem combination has been replaced with a two-piece design. This increases versatility, and makes the 9.0 a perfect choice for riders and triathletes who need an aerodynamic bike with aero extensions for top racing performance, as well as a bike that can easily join a weekend outride with friends.   Riders can opt for the Bontrager Race Lite Aero handlebar that comes as stock on the bike, or select one they prefer.

An ultralight 600 Series OCLV Carbon frame is featured, and the bike is spec’d with Shimano’s all-new Ultegra R8000 mechanical groupset. Tyres of up to size 28c can be used, and the entire bike can be customised through Trek’s Project One custom bike programme. Look out for the new Madone 9.0 now available at Trek retailers nationally, priced at R64,999.
