Trek Bikes SA is pleased to announce the launch of a completely new edition of their electric mountain bike line-up, Powerfly. With e-bikes gaining phenomenal popularity over recent years, Trek believes that offering a mountain bike with an electric assist system will encourage those who are less keen on cycling, to get more active; to get ‘out there’ more often for the love of the ride.
RIB: a Powerfly exclusive
The all-new Powerfly e-MTB saw Trek designers addressing some of the biggest pain points of e-bike integrated batteries. Exclusive to Trek’s Powerfly is the new Removable Integrated Battery (RIB) which fully incorporates the Bosch 500Wh PowerTube battery into the downtube. This facilitates easy access to remove or install the battery thanks to a smarter interface, one-piece battery and cover, and built-in handle. The battery is positioned away from the areas of the bike that are often subjected to dirt, mud and water that naturally accompany the best of outrides. No tools are needed for battery removal.
Major spec upgrades
Major spec upgrades throughout the line, include more robust forks, more powerful 4-piston brakes and tougher tyres. All Powerfly models are powered by rugged Bosch Performance CX motors optimised for off-road use. With Trek’s proven mountain bike frame technology, and the industry’s best product protection, riders can hit the trail with complete confidence in the bike and the brand.
Three Powerfly families
With the all-new Powerfly, e-MTB enthusiasts are spoilt for choice. Choose from Hardtail, Full Suspension (130 mm) and Long Travel (150 mm) families. New OCLV Mountain Carbon models in the Long Travel line enhance the bike’s integration and aesthetics while reducing weight and improving ride quality.
A new Powerfly Sport hardtail model comes fully accessorised with fenders, rack, kickstand and lights for riders who depend on their ride to be ready for any weather, any terrain, any time. Women’s models in both the full suspension and hardtail line-up offer women’s touchpoints for a better fit and a different aesthetic with alternate colour options.
