HotChillee today announced that songo.info will be a charity partner for their new seven-day gravel race, the Rainmaker RollerCoaster, and that songo.info founder and MTB legend, Christoph Sauser, will be riding for the charity. Swiss national, Christoph, is the world’s best-known marathon MTBer, having been a former World Champion, won five ABSA Cape Epics, and 14 UCI World Cup wins.
Established in 2008, songo.info is a sport and academic support programme focused on creating a long term positive impact on the children in Kayamandi, Stellenbosch. The programme provides children with opportunities to participate in recreational and competitive sporting activities as well as much needed educational support, in order to contribute to the social upliftment of the community.
Christoph has recently gotten into gravel riding and racing, and is excited to be taking part in the world’s first seven-day point to point gravel race. “I have really enjoyed the new discipline of gravel biking and to be able to race it in a region that I love and know, will make it even more rewarding. Also, being able to use it as a platform for songo.info fundraising means a lot to me and the young kids of Kayamandi.”
Sven Thiele, HotChillee Founder, said: “To have someone of Christoph’s global standing race the inaugural Rainmaker RollerCoaster will not only put a spotlight on the fast-growing discipline of gravel riding, but also showcase the world’s best gravel route – namely the Cross Cape in the Overberg region. I’m looking forward to finding out who his teammate will be!”
Jan Joubert, CEO Rainmaker, “I’ve spent a lot of time with Christoph helping to shape songo.info. To have him taking part in the inaugural event that will finish at Kwanokuthula is very, very exciting.”
songo.info will be offering bespoke VIP, fully-supported packages as part of their fundraising activity. If you would like to join Christoph as a small group and ride in support of the organisation, please contact Kathy for more details [email protected]
