Silverback Bikes rocket-out their all-new Stratos

On Wednesday, 13 March 2019, Silverback Bikes held a stellar launch evening at Landtscap Wine Farm that just borders Stellenbosch. The brand announced the arrival of new and improved bike models, new racing kits, as well as their respective racing team for the 2019 Absa Cape Epic. This Epic racing team consists of Mariske Strauss, Jennie Stenerhag, Konny Looser and Nicola Rohrbach. Who will all be piloting the new Stratos, and ultimately putting it through the Epic test.

Luke Moir will also continue his racing season aboard the Stratos; made fast by Thomas van der Ploeg, Silverback’s brains behind the bike.

Stratos CF SBC

Bred for the most demanding courses the world over, the Stratos was designed from ground up to trounce  any terrain. Asymmetric design dissipates load based  on magnitude  and position, levitating stresses where  it’s most concentrated. Paired with 12-Speed XX1, 110mm  Fox 32 and Stan’s Podium wheels, it sets the scene for serious racing.

Oversized  tapered pivot and Burst Flex suspension with an injection molded carbon  fiber linkage makes for an extremely light and agile race bike.Dropper post compatibility for versatility,  nothing will be in the way of your success on board a Stratos.

Carbon Fiber material and epoxy resin creates a lightweight and very strong frame that can withstand the demands of modern day riding. Single pivot suspension layout with a flex seatstay design. Progressive leverage curve for a supported bottomless feel. Less pivots = less maintenance. Position of Power / Power Over Pedals. Geometry placing the rider more central on the bike – better  climbing, better  descend- ing, more traction. Simple.

Stratos AL

Stratos AL is the mountainbike  every recrational rider can enjoy. Silverback’s POP geometry makes it a strong climber and a balanced confident descender. The linkage driven asymmetric single pivot suspension is tuned for optimal small bump sensitivity and big hit compliance  without power delivery  penalties. The suspension curve  is designed to offer full use of available  travel. The Stratos AL is based  on the groundbreaking Stratos CF race machine, but adapted to offer a more capable bike for the everyday rider. Trails, XC or marathon, the Stratos AL is the right mountain bike for the job.

A process to shape alloy tubes from the inside using pressurised water  and/or  oil in negative molds, resulting  in stronger tubing. Provision in frame for internally routed dropper post cables. Position of Power / Power Over Pedals. Geometry placing the rider more central on the bike -better  climbing, better  descending, more traction. Simple. Cables are routed and hidden under a protective cover.
